The Ludi Piscatorii* (Fishermen’s Games) was a Roman holiday celebrated on June 7th in the 3rd century BC. It is believed celebrations were held on the banks of the Tiber river by fisherman and overseen by the city praetor. Fish caught that day were thrown on the fires at the Temple of Vulcan as an offering to the god of fire.
*sometimes written as Ludi Piscatari
