Cook everything in the same pot to save on cleaning. If you don’t like things too spicy use only about 1/4 teaspoon of the spices.
1-1/2 cups white long-grain rice
1-2 tablespoons olive oil
1 onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1/2 package smoked turkey sausage, sliced
20 ounce can crushed tomatoes
6 ounces tomato paste
spices: equal parts black pepper, white pepper, cayenne pepper, and salt
1 pound shrimp, use a medium size, deveined and tails removed
Cook rice according to package directions; set aside.
Heat oil in a large pot.
Add onion and cook until softened.
Add garlic and sausage.
Stir in tomatoes and tomato paste and spices.
Simmer 20 minutes.
Sprinkle shrimp with cayenne pepper and add to the pot.
Stir and cook until stir is opaque (about a minute).
Stir in rice just to heat and serve.
