Steamed Bread
2-1/4 cups flour
3-1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup milk
3 tablespoons water
2 tablespoon shortening
Combine flour, baking powder, and sugar.
Make a well in the middle in the center and add the milk and mix.
Add water and mix.
Add the shortening and knead until smooth and elastic. (If too dry add milk. If too wet, add flour.)
Cover with clean towel 1 hour.
Roll into a cylindrical shape, and cut into 16, 1″ pieces.
Place on wax paper and steam 15 to 20 minutes.
