January 1st is National Bloody Mary Day.

The Bloody Mary is a popular morning cocktail made with vodka and tomato juice. It may also have various spices and flavorings. Though typically garnished with a celery stalk, it may also have a skewer of assorted vegetables or a large shrimp. Many people believe drinking one will help with a hangover–perfect for the day after celebrating the end of another year.

Though the exact origin is up for debate, it started showing up in bars in the 1920s.
