January 22nd is National Blonde Brownie Day. A blondie is a “brownie” made with brown sugar instead of chocolate or white chocolate. They may have chocolate chips though. The flavor is a classic butterscotch.

Blonde Brownies or Blondies
makes 48 bars

2 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 cup packed brown sugar
2/3 cup butter or margarine, melted
2 eggs, slightly beaten
2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 350F. Grease 9×13 inch baking pan. Mix flour, soda, baking powder and salt. Set aside. Mix melted butter with sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Add flour mixture gradually, mixing well. Stir in pecans. Spread into prepared pan. Bake 30 minutes. Cool in pan, then cut into bars.
