Peaches and cream (also known as peaches’n cream) is simply sliced fresh peaches with heavy cream. It is popular in the United States, especially the South.
Here’s a recipe for an extra special peaches and cream celebratory dish.
Amaretto Peaches ‘n’ Cream
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon amaretto (or 1 teaspoon almond extract)
- 2 cups sliced peeled peaches (about 3 medium)
- 1/3 cup heavy whipping cream
In a saucepan, bring sugar and water to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in amaretto. Place peaches in a baking dish. Pour syrup over the top, then gently toss to coat. Bake, uncovered, at 350°F for 30-35 minutes or until peaches are tender. Serve peaches warm or chilled with cream.
