2/3 cup warm apple cider (105F to 115F)
1 package yeast
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup butter, room temperature
2 cups all-purpose flour
egg wash (1 egg and a tablespoon of water)
poppy seeds or sesame seeds
Dissolve yeast in cider with the sugar; let stand 3 minutes.
Add butter, salt, and flour.
Knead until smooth.
Cover and let rise until doubled in size, about 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 400F.
Lightly grease a baking sheet.
Roll 16 “legs”.
Roll 4 body balls.
Roll 4 head balls.
On baking sheet, place 2 legs in a U-shape and connect the center.
Follow the procedure with 2 more legs and attach them to the previous legs with the U facing the opposite direction.
Next place one body and one head ball on top of the legs.
Continue making spiders.
Brush body and head with egg wash.
Sprinkle with poppy seeds or sesame seeds.
Bake 15-20 minutes.
